JANUARY 2019 NEWS

Happy New Year to each and every one of you and your equine partners.

Things are running a bit late on my side this month because I’ve had family visiting from overseas and I’ve been spending some quality time with them. I have to say that I had forgotten how noisy the house is when you have little people around, in this case, 18 months old and 4 years old.

I’m back at work now, so I’m available for lesson bookings at home again if you want to kick the year off on a good note and get a lesson in.

Thanks to all the riders who have already sent their goal sheets in, some with great plans for the year. I’m looking forward to assisting you in making the goals become a reality. Remember that I am your cheerleader and your one-woman fan club.

THE THEME FOR JANUARY: “OUTSIDE REIN”

This year as many of you already know, we will have a theme for each month.

I realised that in the equestrian world we have terms that everyone uses which don’t necessarily mean the same to everyone. In fact, when I think about it, they can be a bit like Chinese Whispers, used over and over but the meaning becoming distorted or diluted. How many times do we hear the phrase “outside rein”, …… “more outside rein”? Well over the next month we will keep refining your understanding of that phrase, creating opportunities for you to feel it in practice.

Thank you to all the riders who have already told me a few terms they would like more detail on. I have 31 terms on my list already, the ones that get the most requests will get used next.

The theme for the month won’t be the only thing we’ll be working on in our lessons, but it will be the perspective from which much of our work will be examined.

WEBSITE UPGRADE

Sandy is frantically working on the update of the website at the moment and possibly our January dates on the calendar will be a while getting posted. If you want to attend clinics please contact me for my banking details and let me know what times and dates you would like, I’ll do my best, as always to accommodate your requests.

OAKFORD

This year our clinics at Oakford will be on a Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. If the weather is predicted to be hot we will do early sessions and late arvos. Oakford January dates are Fri 25th Jan and Sat 26th Jan.

We are also trying out doing Harvey on a Sunday for 3 months to see if there are enough people interested as in the past it’s been midweek. Harvey’s January date is Sun 27th Jan.
Also I am at Murray Riding Club on the 19-20th Jan, bookings for this is via the Murray Riding club.

Happy Riding
Cheers Ann
